Study identifies discriminatory school enrolment against ’new Irish’
A study by Dr Valerie Ledwith and Dr Kathy Reilly of the Population and Migration research cluster is the feature of an article in the Irish Times today. They examined how variables such as neighbourhood, school and home environment affect education outcomes and experiences of young migrants in second-level education, and have identified an emerging “achievement” gap between Irish and “new Irish” secondary school students which they have linked to discriminatory school enrolment practices.
