The Immersive Classroom (IC), through a series of collaborative projects and events, aims to engage youth, educators, and the general public, in critical debates about the way we think about our world, knowledge and embodied learning. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are the tools that IC will employ to demonstrate how we might rethink teaching and learning. By engaging community across both formal and informal education sectors in Ireland, this project will begin to challenge perspectives on how we communicate and connect through immersive education. The IC project will accomplish this by examining approaches to teaching and learning through VR and AR, educational engagement, and the evaluation of digital literacy as a prerequisite for creativity and innovation. Immersive Classroom is comprised of five projects: Virtually Here, Enacted Astronomy, Fireflies – An Embodied Orrery (Lampróga), and IC Outdoors, in addition to a week-long IC Expo on the diverse Immersive Classroom projects for the general public.
