Professor Juan Rey-Pino, Universidad de Granada, Social Marketing Seminar and Workshop
The Whitaker Institute and Applied Systems Thinking cluster were delighted to host Professor Juan Rey-Pino from Universidad de Granada during the the week of February 10-14.
On 12 February, Professor Rey-Pino presented his work on social marketing in the Whitaker Ideas Forum. The presentation offered examples from the work developed to generate evidence of the effects of the tobacco industry not meeting national regulations in Colombia, Mexico and Spain, as well as a case from the food industry in Argentina, profiting from a lack of regulation.
On 14 February, Professor Rey-Pino delivered a workshop on Qualitative Data Analysis with CAQDAS NVivo 12 Plus software. The CAQDAS NVivo 12 Plus software which supports qualitative and mixed-method research, allows for the import of different types of documents that researchers work with, such as transcripts, videos, audios or images from interviews or focus groups (among other techniques for obtaining qualitative data), in order to carry out different types of analysis. The software greatly facilitates such analysis through coding tools, as well as text queries through the dictionaries it has (it has dictionaries in several languages for semantic analysis). The workshop, which was attended by over 25 people, was hugely successful with participants asking if Prof Rey-Pino could be hosted again.
