Biography

Aisling Murtagh is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Whitaker Institute and the School of Geography and Archaeology. Aisling is currently working on the Creative Momentum project. Funded by the EU's Northern Periphery and Arctic programme, Creative Momentum is a transnational project supporting the creative industries. Aisling completed her PhD in 2015 at the Department of Food Business and Development, University College Cork.  Her PhD research focused on alternative food initiatives (e.g. farmers’ markets, community gardens), social change and social movements.  Aisling's research interests include: food social movements and social change; short food supply chains and rural development; the development of peripheral creative industries; as well as cooperative and social enterprises, particularly in the food and creative industry contexts.
