Hospitality sector working conditions
Hospitality workers feel vulnerable, underappreciated and sidelined during the often heated debate between the sector, the government and public health experts. Whitaker Institute member Dr Deirdre Curran, of the Work, Organizations and Society Cluster, has conducted research into conditions for workers in the hospitality sector, including a recent study which reported that 77 per cent of 257 hospitality respondents had sometimes or often experienced verbal abuse at work.
