Are you finding writing hard? Common problems amongst academic writers at the moment are: finding time/space to write in a busy house, finding the energy and focus to write when our minds are flooded with catastrophic news, and finding a purpose for our writing.
The Whitaker Writers’ Retreat is going to go ahead next week in an online format. The hope is that together we can work to find some writing ease.
How will it work? We will meet using MS Teams Meetings. If you want to participate, sign up here and you will be sent a meeting invitation by email.
We will work together from 10am to 12pm next Tuesday (21/4), Wednesday (22/4) and Thursday (23/4). You can join for one day or all days.
‘Writing’ is anything you need to do to advance a piece of work: reading, analysis, planning and outlining, drafting, revising and editing.
The planned format is:
9.45 am – joining the meeting and checking that everything is working
10.00 am – (meeting closed to new participants)
– check in with everyone on their writing plans
10.15 – timed writing session of 25 minutes
10.40 – 5 minute break
10.45 – timed writing session of 25 minutes
11.10 – 5 minute break
11.15 – timed writing session of 25 minutes
11.40 – 5 minute break
11.45 – reflection on the morning’s writing
Please email Rachel [rachel.hilliard@nuigalway.ie] if you have any questions. Rachel also has a guide to preparing for the retreat. We will send this out on Monday to all registered participants, but if you would like it earlier please email her and she will send it to you.
Register by 10am on Monday morning.
