Given the contentious nature of collective representation within the
American management model, the adaptation of US multinationals to host
environments with different traditions and institutional frameworks for
managing collective representation is likely to pose critical questions.
This paper focuses on the approaches of U.S. owned MNC subsidiaries in Ireland. Using case study data, it seeks to profile IR practice in these
American MNCs and, in so doing, inform knowledge on how MNCs interact with
a host country’s IR environment.
