The James Connolly Annual Lecture

The James Connolly annual lecture will be held at 8pm Monday April 4, in the Aula, NUI Galway.
Our speaker this year is John Monks, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), who will address the topic ‘Competitiveness – The European Way’. The lecture will be followed by questions and discussion, and refreshments.
John will talk about current thinking on European competitiveness, the drive for a knowledge-based economy and the role of the European ‘social model’. John has had a distinguished public policy career in the UK and Europe and a long association with Ireland. He was in Galway last year for the inaugural EU ministers’ meeting of Ireland’s presidency.
The James Connolly Lecture is hosted by the Irish Association for Industrial Relations, GMIT and NUI Galway.
