Raising the Impact of your Author Profile
September 7, 2012 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Speaker(s): Gwen Ryan
Affiliation: Whitaker Institute
Organised by: Whitaker Institute
Event Navigation
As part of the Institute for Business, Social Sciences and Public Policys ongoing capability building in supporting the visibility of your research we are offering a series of practical sessions to help you raise the impact of your author profile.
The introduction of multidisciplinary citation indices has made bibliometrics an important method of assessing the performance of researchers. Based on the presumption that work of higher quality will be cited more often than works of lesser quality, citation counts are increasingly being used to evaluate the impact of published research output. This practical workshop will enable you to implement a couple of simple measures to maximize the exposure of your publications, which will increase the opportunities for others to read, and hopefully cite you.
To derive maximum benefit from participation:
1. Please ensure you have logged onto IRIS so that you are familiar with your staff profile
2. Bring along postprints of your published journal articles on a USB stick (fulltext final versions of your manuscripts that has been accepted for publication, incorporating any peer-review revisions)
Workshop Outline

Benefits of attending
– This is an opportunity to update your IRIS profile and discuss and resolve any problems that have been experienced by others.
– You will understand how you can influence the visibility of your work in Google Scholar, making it more accessible to others.
This workshop is a practical opportunity for you to get your profile up to date and the time you will need to spend on it will depend on the amount of work it requires.
