Drawing on their experience as editors, reviewers and authors, Tony Dundon and Dave Collings (Editors of Human Resource Management Journal) will give a talk on publishing in top-ranked international peer-reviewed journals. Among other aspects, the talk will consider both the editorial and reviewers’ roles and discuss how manuscripts progress from submission to publication. It will also provide some guidance on the pitfalls which mean many papers fail to progress at higher ranked outlets.

Dr Tony Dundon is senior lecturer at the School of Business and Economics, National University of Ireland Galway. He was previously employed at Manchester School of Management, UMIST, and has held international visiting positions at Sydney University; Deakin University, Melbourne; and Toulouse Business School. He has published in numerous international scholarly journals on employee voice and representation, trade union revitalisation, HRM in small firms, and non-union industrial relations. He is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Human Resource Management Journal (HRMJ) and consulting Editor for the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR). His recent books include Employment Relations in Non-Union Firms (Routledge, 2004); Understanding Employment Relations, (McGraw Hill, 2e, 2011); and Cases in Global Management: Strategy, Innovation and People Management (Tilde University Press, 2012). Tony is the Chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Dr David Collings is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Management Discipline at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Previously he was on the faculty at the University of Sheffield Management School and a Visiting Research Fellow at Strathclyde Business School. His research interests focus on management in multinational corporations with a particular emphasis on staffing, talent management and industrial relations issues. His work in these areas has been published in outlets such as the Journal of World Business, Human Resource Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior and the International Journal of Management Reviews. He has edited six books, most recently Global Talent Management, with Hugh Scullion and published by Routledge (2011). He sits on a number of editorial boards including the Journal of World Business and is Editor of the Human Resource Management Journal and Irish Journal of Management.
