For academics, taking on the role as principle investigator (PI) represents an important landmark in their career. Peers, funding agencies, their institution and external stakeholders see becoming a publicly-funded PI as prestigious and career defining. Yet little is understood about the behaviours, roles, motivations, strategic posture and managerial skills of publicly funded PIs.

Speakers from Ireland, France and New Zealand will present and discuss cutting edge research about different aspects of the experiences of principle investigator in different domains and countries.
