PhD Module: Communicating Research to Non-Specialists

Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th of April 2012, NUI Galway

The course is open to all PhD students and post doctoral researchers, both internal and external to NUI Galway. If you are currently supervising a student or post doc who may be interested in attending, please forward this information to them.

The module aims to give students the opportunity to examine the consequences of population-level scientific and research literacy, to appreciate the principles of communication as they pertain to empirical research findings, to acquire skills in communicating research to non-specialists, and to evaluate how their own research might best be communicated. The module will involve practical skills training in both oral and written presentation of research.

Although there are 5 ECT credits available for this course, you are highly encouraged to attend even if you do not need the credits.

For further information on the course, please see the document below. If you have any enquiries about the course itself, please feel free to contact Dr. Brian Hughes brian.hughes@nuigalway.ie

To book a place, please contact Melissa O’Hea Melissa.ohea@nuigalway.ie. Please be aware that all students require Supervisor approval in order to attend this module.
