Dr Cornelia Connolly is a lecturer in the School of Education at National University of Ireland Galway. In addition to a Ph.D. in pedagogical innovation, she holds a B.Eng. (Hons) in Computer Engineering and M.Eng. (Hons) through research. Her prior experience as a computer engineer in industry informs her research, which tends to focus on the interconnection between technology and education.
Dr. Connolly is a Fellow and Executive Committee member of the International Society for Design and Development in Education (ISDDE), a Funded Investigator with Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Research Centre for Software, and a Senior Researcher at the UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre. She was awarded a 2021 Lero Director’s Prize for Diversity and Inclusion and a 2020 NUI Galway Dean’s Award in recognition of her leadership at international, national and university level in Computer Science Education.
The learning intention of this talk will be to reflect upon our education technology landscape through a critical lens but positive lens. The presentation will highlight some specific studies, current trends and the trajectory of education technology.
