Economic and environmental impacts and opportunities of working from home

Working from home and electric vehicles could see emissions slashed by 73%, according to new research by NUI Galway and Western Development Commission.

At an the recent Whitaker Institute webinar Economic and environmental impacts and opportunities of working from home experts including Professor Alma McCarthy (Work, Organizations and Society), Dr Tom McDermott (SEMRU), and Dr Eoghan Clifford (College of Science and Engineering) outlined their research and highlighted the economic and environmental impacts and opportunities of working from home since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Professor John Fitzgerald acted as a discussant and reflected on economic and climate related policy implications of the findings presented in the webinar.
