Event Navigation

Mike Hogan and his colleagues have developed a new collaborative research/teaching thinking support tool which they are making available to all staff and researchers at NUI, Galway. Mike will demonstrate how the software can be used at a brown bag lunchtime session on Wednesday 25th April, 1 – 2pm, room CA113. The software provides a platform for the integration of two thought structuring technologies, Interpretative Structuring Modelling and Argument Mapping, which together can be useful if a group is working to develop a consensus-based model describing relations between problems in a problem field, options in an option field, etc. A succinct description of the steps in the model building process can be found on the slide below.

The most recent version of the software is available here:

http://danu2.it.nuigalway.ie/gizmo/ISM-32bit.exe

http://danu2.it.nuigalway.ie/gizmo/ISM-64bit.exe

The software connects with argument mapping software that is commercially available here: http://rationale.austhink.com/

Please note that this is the first iteration of the software and the group will continue to develop it over the next few months. The long-term plan it to integrate the tool and methodology into the web to facilitate research groups working together via skype, etc. The next phase of work will focus on developing mathematical modeling features that fit within the existing matrix structuring methodology. Please feel free to make use of the current version of the software, and please let Mike know how you get on with it. He is available to facilitate workshops if required.

All Welcome!
