This 8th National Social Marketing Conference, Co-Creating Change, brings leaders and researchers in health and sustainable change in public and voluntary sectors together with world-renowned social marketing experts from Canada, Australia, Europe and Ireland. This conference will explore in greater detail how empowered citizens and communities can co-create and foster sustainable behaviour change. In addition, the conference will feature cutting-edge talks from around the world including insights into improving behavioural change effectiveness through applying a strategic approach to planning.
Through the day attendees will learn; How social marketing use tools in co-creating sustainable behaviour change; How to follow proven social marketing secrets to develop an effective intervention on limited budgets; How to use the success factors of proven social marketing interventions; How to address the major societal challenges of our time and How to think strategically about innovative social change through co-creating change.

Keynote speakers:
Professor Walter Wymer, Professor of Marketing, University of Lethbridge (Canada)
Professor Walter Wymer’s primary areas of research include nonprofit marketing, social marketing, brand strength/loyalty, higher education marketing, and scale development. His early work focused on volunteer psychology, segmenting volunteer subgroups, and gender differences in volunteering. Another interest concerns formulating effective social marketing and public health communication strategies. He is an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Marketing and the International Review on Public and Nonprofit Marketing, as well as serving on other journal editorial boards.
Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele, Professor of Marketing, Griffith University, Australia
Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele is Director, Social Marketing at Griffith and Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Social Marketing. Drawing on her commercial marketing background Sharyn’s research focuses on applying marketing tools and techniques to change behaviour for the better. She is currently working on projects delivering changes to the environment, people’s health and for the greater social good. Selected current projects include changing adolescent attitudes towards drinking alcohol (see www.blurredminds.com.au/students), increasing healthy eating and physical activity to combat obesity, reducing food waste and delivering change in wide variety of settings. Research partners in 2018 include Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Australian Defence Force, Queensland Catholic Education Commission, Redland City Council, and more. Sharyn’s research is published in more than 120 books, book chapters and journal papers.
Professor Alan Tapp, Professor of Marketing, University of the West of England-Bristol
Pofessor Alan Tapp is the founder and former Director of the Bristol Social Marketing Centre. His research interests centre on the use of marketing working alongside other fields to influence and change behaviour. He has led and worked on over 50 marketing research projects with funding over £1.5m, including projects funded by research councils and working with partners such as Sport England, the Department for Transport, DH, the National Social Marketing Centre, Public Health England, and Cancer Research UK. Most recently, Alan was awarded £250k in 2017 to progress the successful Wheels Skills and Thrills project, funded by The Road Safety Trust and Department for Transport to examine the use of social marketing to improve driving behaviours. He is also leading a £91k Public Health England project to examine how social marketing might help transform cultures around end of life care and death in England. Alan was nominated for the Vice Chancellors prize for Research in 2017.
Professor Gerard Hastings, Professor at Stirling and Professeur Associé at the École des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique in Rennes
Professor Gerard Hastings leads social marketing at Stirling University, UK, the Open University, UK, and L’ École des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique, Renes, France. He is currently a Commissioner on the Lancet Obesity Commission, and a member of the Board of Alcohol Focus Scotland and the British Medical Association Board of Service.
