Dog-bite Fatalities and Breed-Specific Legislation

This Health Behaviour Change Research Group seminar will outline the scientific research on factors in dog-bite fatalities and the assertions related to the relevance of a dog’s breed within this context. The juxtaposition of these findings with public opinion and resulting political narratives will also be discussed. Dr. Ó Súilleabháin will outline the challenges of implementing evidence-based policy and potential strategies to meet these challenges. Strategies in the greeting or avoidance of dogs will also be provided!
