Writing, Defending and Publishing Ph.D. Research

This informal discussion session will focus primarily on qualitative research, but many of the issues regarding defending and publishing research from Ph.D. projects will be relevant to other types of research. However, it will not specifically discuss ways of handling quantitative and statistical data. It will cover amongst other things writing convincing arguments, defining your contribution, preparing for the viva, and writing papers out of a Ph.D. monograph.

Professor Bob Scapens is  an Emeritus Professor at the Manchester Business School and a visiting professor of Management Accounting at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Vaasa in Finland and Lund University in Sweden. Together with Michael Bromwich, he was co-founder of Management Accounting Research and just recently retired as the Editor-in-Chief.
