Event Navigation

The Fall 2017 Whitaker Ideas Forum series begins on 13  September. The Performance Management research cluster’s Sara Catalan will kick off the series with an engaging presentation on the topic of ‘The Use of Games and Gamification to Enhance the User’s Experience‘.

During the last few years, gamification has become one of the most important emerging trends in academic literature, and its use has become popular in multiple spheres. Gamification consists of the use of game elements in non-gaming contexts, with the purpose of enhancing the user’s experience and increasing his or her motivation and engagement, among many other benefits. The aim of this presentation is to delve into gamification strategies and to analyse their effects on attitudinal, affective, and behavioural responses. The analysis will focus on marketing and education settings, given the great potential of gamification on these two contexts.

Background

The Whitaker Ideas Forum seminars have, to-date, showcased the diverse range of research being conducted across the Institute. The forum represents a great opportunity for early career researchers to present to their peers and research cluster colleagues. All presentations have stimulated engaging discussions and, in some instances, introduced new collaborative opportunities for Institute members.

The seminar series will run Wednesdays from 1:00pm – 2:00pm through 22 November in the Whitaker Institute Seminar Room (CA110) in the Cairnes Building.  The seminar series is a brown bag-style event, with tea/coffee provided for attendees.
