Event Navigation

On Tuesday 30th May 2017, The Whitaker Institute will host a workshop aimed at bringing together a group to develop solutions to the traffic congestion problem in Galway with a focus on promoting active transport and sustainbility.  This workshop will be led by Dr. Geraldine McDarby, Department of Public Health, HSE West.

Life is all about connection and transport is key to those connections.  The health of Galway City as well as its individuals can be promoted by encouraging active transport.  NUI Galway, Healthy Cities, Galway Green Leaf, Galway City Council, and key employers in Galway already have the knowledge, skills and resources needed to transform our city and our lives.

Through this workshop we want to bring together the key players on the knowledge side first, including researchers from NUI Galway, representatives from Healthy Cities and Green Leaf, and some key stakeholders to develop solutions and then bring together all key stakeholders to develop and agree a holistic solution for the transport of the city that encourages activity and health while supporting sustainability.
