Optimising Qualitative Methods in Trials: Tips for Success

Workshop Aims, Objectives

The workshop will illustrate the ways that qualitative research can be used to optimise the design and conduct of randomised trials, particularly with regard to recruitment. The workshop will give participants an opportunity to discuss their own research ideas, to gain confidence in including qualitative research in grant applications, and to draw on the experience of the QuinteT team at the University of Bristol. By the end of the workshop participants should:

• Appreciate how qualitative research can be used to address randomised trial design and conduct issues, in particular problems with recruitment; and
• Be better equipped to include qualitative research in grant applications for randomised trials.
