A reverse-engineering approach

Workshop Outline:

Writing journal articles can be tiresome, cumbersome and just plain time consuming but it’s a necessary part of the research process and hones your skills.
This workshop will provide tips and strategies for writing a journal article using a reverse-engineering philosophy. Many times articles are rejected not on the basis of the research quality but on the fit with the journal and its purpose/audience. This workshop will show you how to ‘reverse engineer’ a journal article so that you can write an article that is targeted to the right readership and communicates the quality of your research.

Participants must come along prepared – they need to identify a journal they want to target and bring along:

a hardcopy of the author requirements for that journal
an example paper from that journal that uses the same method analysis technique
a hardcopy of the following paper: HOMBURG, C., MÜLLER, M. & KLARMANN, M. 2011. When does a salesperson’s customer orientation lead to customer loyalty? The differential effects of relational and functional customer orientation. Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, 39,795-812.
