Fulbright and H2020: From NUI Galway to Harvard and Umea

In this seminar Dr Emer Mulligan will outline her experiences as a recent Fulbright scholar when she spent 6 months at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.  Emer will provide tips for the application process and insights into being a Fulbrighter from academic, ambassadorial and personal perspectives.  Highlights from studying in Harvard and the potential opportunities from this experience will also be addressed.  Emer will also describe her involvement in a successful H2020 proposal, in which she is a member of a consortium of 11 members from 9 countries.  The lead investigator is based in Umeå, Sweden, where the first consortium meeting took place earlier this year.  The H2020 project known as ‘Project FairTax’ is entitled: Revisioning the Fiscal EU: Fair, Sustainable and Coordinated Tax and Social Policies.  Emer will provide details on the work package she is leading entitled:  European Pension Policies and Intergenerational Fiscal Sustainability, Fairness, and Consolidation. Some insights into other aspects of being involved in a H2020 funded research project will be addressed.
