Professor Monty Van Wart speaks on e‐competencies that impact effective leadership
The effects of the ongoing digital revolution have been profound in terms of changing social interactions, business models, methods of political participation, and learning platforms, among others. The digital revolution has also changed leaders’ interactions with followers enormously via information and communication technologies (ICTs). Professor Monty Van Wart, California State University, reviewed six factors or e‐competencies which impact effective leadership and presented a number of common e-leadership challenges and issues faced by leaders and followers in a range of organizational settings when he presented A Brave New World for Organizational Leaders: Understanding and Mastering E-Leadership as the first lecture in the Whitaker Distinguished Lecture series last week.
